Biography
He is an economist from the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, and holds a PhD from the Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences of the San Pablo CEU University, Madrid, Spain, for his research work in the area of "Economics" and Management of Innovation "with which he received the" “Extraordinary Doctorate Award ".
As a university professor for more than ten years he has taught courses in Science and Technology Policy, Innovation Management and Technology Dissemination, in renowned universities in the country and abroad, from undergraduate to doctoral levels. In this area, his main academic connection was with the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana for ten years and in which, in addition to university teaching, he served as head of the Business Development Center.
He joined the government as Director of Science, Technology and Innovation of the Department of Antioquia between 2012 and 2015. In the year 2015 he joined Colciencias as Deputy Director General, where in addition to the responsibilities of the position, he had the duty of the creation and implementation of the Policy Design and Evaluation Unit, the unit responsible for the design of science policies. Alejandro assumed responsibility for the process of access of Colombia to the Scientific and Technological Policy Committee (CSTP) of the OECD, committee in which he has been head of delegation during the last two years.
