Biography

Andrea Escobedo Lastiri joined IBM Mexico on August, 2014. As a Government and Regulatory Affairs Senior Professional, she provides strategic public policy and business development support, according to national priorities, and acts as a liaison between internal and external partners, in order to focalize and leverage ongoing efforts and innovative projects. In addition to her formal responsibilities, since 2017, Andrea co-leads within IBM the women’s network, I order to promote women’s professional development, inclusion and equal opportunities.  

She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations from el Colegio de México and obtained a Master’s Degree in Social Sciences from the University of Chicago, with a specialization on Political Sciences. Andrea is a Fulbright alumna.  From 2011 to 2014, Andrea served as an adviser to the Undersecretary for North America at the Secretariat of Foreign Affairs. Within the Mexican public administration, she also worked in the Secretariat of the Interior at the National Institute of Migration, and in the Secretariat of Social Development at the Evaluation Department of the OPORTUNIDADES Program. 

As part of her professional experience in International Organizations, Andrea worked for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) at the Human Development Research Office in Mexico, and was an intern in the Permanent Delegation of Mexico to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development.
