Biography

Diplomat since 1976, José Antônio Marcondes de Carvalho graduated in Law. He has a long experience in international negotiations on economic and regional issues. For eight years, he assumed the Management of the Department of Regional Integration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil. He worked in the Brazilian Embassies in Washington and Havana and in the Brazilian Mission with the United Nations in New York. He headed the Representation of Brazil together with the FAO and was Ambassador of Brazil in Venezuela. He assumed, in August 2013, the position of Assistant Secretary General for Environment, Energy and Science and Technology and is today the Brazilian negotiator for climate change.
